Kadir ‘Amigo’ Memiş

Kadir “Amigo” Memiş is a Berlin-based dancer, choreographer, performer, and visual artist whose work merges movement, calligraphy, and cultural tradition. Born in a small Anatolian village and shaped by Berlin’s Hip Hop scene since the 1980s, he co-founded the renowned group Flying Steps and pioneered fusions such as Zeybreak, blending Turkish folk dance with B-boying.

Trained as a draftsman, his precision carries into both his choreography and his calligraphic drawings, which draw from graffiti, tagging, and Asian and Arabic scripts. For over three decades, Amigo has presented his unique fusion of dance, performance, and visual art worldwide, bridging traditional and urban cultures with intuitive, spontaneous expression.
